We woke up this morning to the announcement that Hanan’s morning kindergarten was canceled. Arleigh had a 2-hour delay. There was a rush to the window. Could there actually be snow? No… it looked like someone had dusted the lawn with powdered sugar. That was quite surprising since last week the highs hit 86 degrees! Somehow today’s high of 50 was freezing! The picture shows you how much was actually on the ground by the time we took Arleigh to school.
The two hours gave us some extra time. I was instructed that an appropriate Valentine’s Day breakfast was in order. Cinnamon Toast Crunch just wouldn’t do. We made heart shaped pancakes. Notice how there are no pictures. I was forced to free hand them. They turned out pretty well but they weren’t picture perfect. We’ll be ordering pancake molds from Willams-Sonoma this week to save my stress level over the next holiday.
Our Valentine’s Day was pretty packed. We had Arleigh’s party at 12:30, then we rushed home to brush and floss because Arleigh had a dentist appointment and then we rushed off to piano. We had time to stop and get Daddy a new coffee cup that says, “McHottie” with some chocolate peanut butter fudge. It seems like Thursday nights are reserved for the homework catch up for the week. That means all the math that we didn’t want to tackle earlier. Believe it or not I heard Ray say something I never thought I would hear, “Give many any calculus problem and I’ll figure it out. This first grade math is nuts!” Needless to say, there was no time for a fabulous dinner. We’ll save that for tomorrow.
Ray got the girls each a pink rose, even Bria. They were thrilled. Hanan learned that beauty comes with pain when she couldn’t stop poking at the thorns. I got a dozen red roses. They’re beautiful. The girls also got new soccer shirts that look like Daddy’s. Soccer doesn’t start for a couple of weeks but they plan on wearing them to school for spirit day tomorrow. They finished off the candy after supper. So much for the dentist… Bria got a pair of baby crocs and a new puppy that sounds like a real puppy. It’s driving Tucker nuts. All in all, it was a great Valentine’s Day.
