Ray is volunteering today by cleaning out a barracks room. It was in the main part of the flood. The owner is in Japan this week. He hasn’t been home. It will be smelly, nasty work. I’m at home. I’m addicted to blogging. Other than the fact that Ray’s boss is displaced and also our house guest for the week, I don’t have much to say. I thought I would show you a few of my new favorite things.
We’ve been spending some time talking with the girls about making healthy choices. As parents, our discussions have led us to believe that we aren’t doing our kids any favors by giving them prepacked junk. I don’t want them to grow up with my bad habit of going to the pantry and looking for some over processed food. This has been hard in ways for all of us. I’m feeding into that bad habit with this, but Hanan was so happy she couldn’t stand it this morning.
Pop Tarts have been banned from our house for a long time. Ray just about had a heart attach the other night when he saw a commercial for an ice cream sandwich made with Pop Tarts. Pop Tarts are near and dear to Hanan’s heart. I worry that at some point, because we’ve withheld them, she’ll start to free base them like a drug. Yesterday, I found these…We let the girls know they won’t be purchased all the time, but they are a special treat and a much better choice than Pop Tarts. I think we are doing a bit better.
Another new favorite prepackaged item… The LARABAR. Yummy. There are only 3-8 ingredients in every flavor. I have only found them online and at Whole Foods, but there is a bag full in my pantry right now. I’m horrible about taking the time to eat a good breakfast. Instead of eating junk, I wasn’t eating. This is my answer. Still prepackaged, but it’s working. My new favorite place to shop is francesca’s. I love it! If I can lose another 15 pounds, I’m rewarding myself with a new dress and possibly necklace for a certain someone’s promotion. (Not Ray with have friends that will be here for a promotion and I’m super excited!)Finally, my favorite short clip to go to when I need a laugh…
Even better is watching Bria watch. So funny!
