*** Commenting is officially closed. I’ll try and announce the giveaway at my leisure or by tomorrow night, whichever comes first. Have a blessed weekend!

Today is World Water Day. Did you know that more people are killed from dirty water than violence, including war? We take our water for granted every day, until it’s not there. Did you know that a child dies every twenty seconds due to water born illness? Every. Twenty. Seconds.

As Americans we can’t wrap our minds around the fact that nearly one billion of the world’s poorest people do not have access to clean water. Water can be a sustainable difference in someone’s life. The World Health Organization suggests that 20 liters of water a day is necessary per household for drinking and personal hygiene. If you include bathing and laundry, you would need approximately 50 liters of water per day. People in other countries without access to clean water live on 5 liters of dirty water per day. Americans average 575 liters. I think about this when I take the girls to a free water park when the summer starts to heat up. We enjoy this. ..

While others survive on this…

I’m not okay with that. Are you? Every child should have clean drinking water. Of the many things that mothers worry about, having a child dying from diarrhea shouldn’t be one of them.

What can you do? Become aware of the problem. Advocate. Pray. Help fund clean water projects. There are organizations working all over the world to make sure clean water is available and sustainable.

Walk For Water

I am not naive enough to think you can do it all. You can do something. Really it doesn’t matter if you buy a t-shirt, donate money or start your own walk for water. Just do something. Even leave a comment.

So, my first giveaway. I’ve thought about it for a while. I’m a little nervous but here goes. I’ll send you your very own 20 Liters t-shirt. With this shirt, you’ll know that one person will have been provided clean water for up to 10 years. That is life saving change.

How do you enter?

  • Follow this blog and leave a comment telling me you do.
  • Tweet it and leave a comment.
  • Facebook it and leave a comment.

Each comment will have a number randomly picked. I reserve the right to have a child pull a number out of a hat but I’ll video it if that makes you feel better. You pick your size, I’ll have the shirt sent directly to your door in as timely a fashion as this mom of almost four can handle. Please remember, this is my first giveaway. Go easy on me. I’ll leave the comments open until Thursday night at 8 p.m. central time. All you people who have been lurking and not commenting or following… now is your chance. Let the games begin.
